Hidden in the woods of the glacier-ridden landscape of the Kettle Moraine, this project gets its name from the abundant beech wood trees in the area.  The approach brings you on a narrow path through field and thick woods as you traverse up the hill where the house reveals itself as the landscape opens. Rooted into the hillside the house orients itself to the primary views of the surrounding landscape, drawing exterior colors from the beech wood trees and an elegant simplicity that carries throughout.
